Meet Carmen Baldino, Ph.D.

Dr. Carmen Baldino is Vice President of Chemistry at Technology Greenhouse, LLC, in Andover, Massachusetts. He brings over 30 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology leadership experience, with a focus on medicinal chemistry, discovery operations, and green chemistry innovation. Dr. Baldino holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Southern Connecticut State University (1987) and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Purdue University (1993). He completed advanced research training at the Scripps Research Institute in Bioorganic Chemistry and conducted postdoctoral work in tricarbonyl chemistry at Yale University.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Baldino has served in key leadership roles including:

  •  Vice President of Chemistry at Walden Biosciences, Inc. (2019–2025)
  •  Vice President of Chemistry at Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry (2016–2019)
  •  President of Jasco Pharmaceuticals, LLC (2009–2016)
  •  Vice President of Research at Anthill Technologies and BioDuro
  •  Vice President of Chemistry at ArQule, Inc. (1995–2005)

His accomplishments span cancer research, drug discovery, and green chemistry. Notable contributions include novel kinase inhibitors, ferroptosis-targeting compounds, and noncovalent derivatives for therapeutic applications. Dr. Baldino has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and holds multiple U.S. and international patents. He is experienced in managing CDMO relationships, developing CMC and GLP toxicology packages, and leveraging AI and machine learning in compound design.
Dr. Baldino’s innovative leadership has supported up to $60 million in annual revenue, and he has directed teams across international locations. His contributions to automated parallel synthesis and combinatorial chemistry have furthered advancements in efficient, scalable drug discovery.

He is a long-time member of the Biomedical Oversight Committee for Woburn, Massachusetts.
